I just watched and enjoyed "No Impact Man" last night. It's about a family (man, wife, young daughter) who try to spend a year making no environmental impact. One of the things I liked best about it is that the wife is decidedly not your typical environmentalist (though the husband pretty much seems to be). It's both entertaining and thoughtful.

That's funny--I was going to recommend the same, but I have to admit I haven't seen it yet; I've just had other people tell me I should see it and that the CEP might want to show it. So, I think we certainly should give it consideration.

OK, I'm cheating b/c it's Saturday the 6th but I had oral surgery yesterday so I feel kind of justified.
We just recently watched "Second Skin": it's about video gaming and virtual reality. It follows several serious gamers and their relationships with other gamers, including a couple that meet "in the game" and get married.
I can't honestly say I liked it; the first few minutes scared me to death b/c this is a life I know so little about. But as it went on, it got me talking with my husband about people's roles in society and how virtual reality changes all of that. And the film makes some interesting points at the end.

I also want to nominate "The Cove": (This riveting, Oscar-nominated documentary follows a group of animal activists to a scenic cove in Taijii, Japan, where they use surveillance equipment to capture footage of a secretive and heavily guarded operation run by the world's largest supplier of dolphins. As the daring group risks their lives to expose the horrifying truths behind the capture of dolphins for the lucrative tourist industry, they also uncover an environmental catastrophe.) and The Beautiful Truth: (This documentary follows the journey of Garrett Kroschel, an animal-loving teenager raised in Alaska. After reading a book by Dr. Max Gerson, Garrett is inspired to investigate its premise that diet can cure cancer and other diseases. Garrett travels across the country, visiting with physicians, scientists and cancer survivors to discuss Gerson Therapy -- and Gerson's claim that the medical industry has suppressed natural cancer cures for years.) Both are next up on my queue and look really interesting to me, but I'm a bit behind in my documentary watching b/c of trying to keep up w/Oscar nominees!

I also watched "No Impact Man" and found it to be interesting, engaging and a very human approach to a seemingly monumental issue - how our actions are impacting the environment. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars
